The Turkey Trot and the making of Stone Soup are two of Chilmark School's annual traditions. These two events happen the last day before Thanksgiving Break.

The Day beings with an All School Morning Meeting.  Children then go to their classrooms to prepare the vegetables for soup.  At approximately 11:00, students and community members participate in a mile run that begins and ends at Beetle Bung Corner.  After the race students, guests and faculty come together to learn about community and sharing by listening to the story of Stone Soup and share the soup they created.
